DIY Halloween {Spooky Steps}

Over the weekend, I started to get excited to decorate for Halloween, but with so many projects going on right now, I’m really trying not to spend much time or money on spookifying (hey, it could be a word) the house. To that end, here’s an easy and inexpensive way to let the neighborhood know you’re ready for trick-or-treaters using sidewalk chalk.

I chose my back steps for this display for two reasons. 1) The steps are under the patio roof so the chalk won’t wash away the next time it rains and 2) due to our parking set up, it’s the way most people enter the house.

I used bright colors from a pack of regular sidewalk chalk so it would stand out at night when the light is on, but if you wanted spooky steps to be visible throughout the evening you could also use glow-in-the-dark chalk.
