While many people have refrigerators that also act as water dispensers, we are still a Brita pitcher household. This means a couple of things; 1) the pitcher is convenient to have at the dinner table, but unattractive and 2) you have to remember to refill it. Well, #1 sort of annoys me and with regard to #2, I’m admittedly the drink-the-last-drop-and-leave-the-Brita-empty culprit in our house. So, I decided to turn my last screw-top bottle of white wine into a quick and cute bottle for serving water at the dinner table.

My husband and I recently celebrated our first anniversary, prompting me to reminisce by looking through our wedding day photographs. Among the wonderful pictures of family and friends and perfect moments, I was also reminded of how much DIY effort went into the event. The months leading up to our wedding were a whirlwind of finalizing details, so it was so nice to look back and see how it all came together. One of my favorite DIY projects were our table markers.
A perfect storm occurred in my rarely used front porch. A craft room in complete upheaval from a semi-recent move, debris from designing, creating and storing favors, invitations, menus etc. from our wedding last year, and unofficially designating this space as a storage unit, since our front door is
rarely never used. These three factors along with dozens of projects requiring more immediate attention around our nearly 100 year old bungalow created the perfect storm, the creation of a 20′ x 8′ space that could easily earn me a spot on Hoarders: Buried Alive.
Though it pains me to show any space in this much disarray, in efforts to learn something from this pile of wreckage, it’s a necessary evil. Plus, who doesn’t like a nice, dare a say, dramatic before and after?
